It is almost impossible to find someone who’s summer plans were not disrupted by the global spread of COVID-19. Countless flights, cruises and trips were cancelled this summer. For that reason, many people will have a vacation in the country they are in, or a “hemester” as some Swedes like to call it. Here are four apps which will help you prepare for a summer vacation in Sweden:
Krisinformation
This app was developed by the Swedish Agency for Social Protection and Contingency. It is a general gateway to information from authorities and other persons responsible for crises and social disturbances. Krisinformation is therefore helpful when it comes to receiving information on crises in general.
The app also becomes useful when planning a trip within Sweden. For example, it provides weather alerts and traffic information directly from the Swedish Transport Administration. The information is therefore entirely reliable and always up to date. So, if you are thinking about travelling somewhere in Sweden during the Corona-Crisis, use this app to help you plan!

Naturkartan
More than half of Sweden’s land area is covered by forest. This makes for countless opportunities to go for hiking or camping trips. Naturkartan is your guide to Sweden’s nature and outdoor life. It is the most comprehensive nature guide in Sweden and compiles hundreds of tips for nature experiences.
Whether you are looking for nature reserves, hiking trails or opportunities to dip in the water, Naturkartan is your go-to app. The information is visualized through both a Terrain Map and a Mountain Map, which help you navigate through the dense nature in Sweden.

FamTime
This app compiles child and family-friendly activities in Sweden in one place. It makes it easy to find these activities in your immediate vicinity or in the place you are planning to go to. Among other activities it helps you find playgrounds, sports activities and opportunities to go swimming. The developers behind the app are constantly working on adding more content and more places visit.
So why not just use Google Maps or Apple Maps? The benefit of FamTime is that it compiles information that other apps would not. For example, it suggests whether activities are for toddlers or children, whether something is free or costs money or whether something is indoors or outdoors. Essentially, it saves time and makes it easier to find something to do with the family.

Travis
So, now that you have some apps to help you find activities, you still need to get there… This is where Travis comes in. It is an app that compiles all possible travel options in one place. Most apps are limited to one type of vehicle or one supplier. Travis helps you plan a trip by incorporating buses, the metro, taxis, trains, boats, carpools and even electric scooters. That way, you can be sure to have the fastest and cheapest option.
Additionally, the app provides you with updated information on traffic disruptions and possible changes to your trip. Probably the most useful feature is that Travis lets you pay for the trip within the app. Other apps often send you through a labyrinth of links and online payments. Travis avoids that and makes for environmentally friendly, quick and convenient travel.
