What is it:
Steven is an app that helps users settle the debt between friends. It keeps track of the users spend, who owes the user and how much it costs. The app also reminds people of their debt at the right time.
How it works:
To register, the user must input their phone number and the app will send you a code to verify your phone number. After registering the user can add their friends in the app and input what they spent. The app then divides the spending evenly or the user can enter a specific amount per person in the group. The user can also pick other currencies to make it easier to keep track of foreign spending when traveling with friends.
Steven relieves the awkwardness of debt collection by sending reminders to your friends without the user contacting them directly. Payments can be made through the app with Swish which keeps all financial transactions on your mobile device. Once payment has been made Steven will update your group and keep track of who has already paid and who is falling behind.
The app needs to be downloaded by everyone in the group for it to work. Currently, the app doesn’t send out invitations so users would need to directly download the app from Google Play and the App Store.
Best for:
Groups of Friends who enjoy eating out together or travel together and wants to avoid the awkwardness to ask for payment.
Value Offering:
Steven sends automatic reminders to reduce the awkwardness around reminding people about their debts. The app lets you resolve debt through the app via Swish and soon with other payment methods.
Steven is also connected in Intercom which helps customers leave feedback or be able to receive immediate customer service. The app is also regulated by the Financial institute and will soon be expanding in the EU and then globally.
Hype Level:
Steven was able to raise SEK 9 million in venture capital from well-known investors such Nordic Capital founder Robert Andreen, Klarna founder Sebastian Siemiatkowski, Pejoni founder Johan Edenström, Johan Andersson, Daniel Pilotti, and Wallstreet.
They are also currently expanding their team and they are searching for UX-designer and Lead Developer. Interested applicants can apply here.
Steven has already saved tons of friendships by removing the awkwardness around debts between friends and will continue the quest to help friends stay friends.
