What is it:
Aimo is Sweden’s first electric carsharing app. Users can rent an electric car to drive with their mobile app. Downloading the app is completely free and the user will only pay for their trip.
How it works:
Users would need to register for an account using their bankID. The user would also need to be above 21 years old and has to have a Swedish driver’s license for at least a year. Foreign drivers can also use Aimo but they would need to contact Aimo directly through hello@aimosolution.com.
The app charges the user by the amount of time that they have used the vehicle. For short trips, Aimo charges users with 6 kronor per minute and after 25 minutes the user will automatically be charged hourly. The user could also pay by the hour the 1st hour would cost 150 kronor with the succeeding hours will be charged at 200 kronor per hour. A user can also rent a car for the whole day for 990 kronor.
The app shows the users a map with the nearest available car and they can also rent it through the app. A car can be booked up to 48 hours per trip. The user also has the option to pause a trip for any stopovers or short breaks, but the app will continue to accumulate time. The user’s trip starts when the doors unlock and until they have ended the trip on the app.
Best for:
People who would need private transportation for both short distance or long-distance trips.
Value Offering:
Aimo is an on-demand car rental service. Users can book a car 15 minutes in advance or just walk up to an available Aimo car and use it. The app also serves as a way to unlock and drive the vehicle so users don’t need to plan a trip in advance or be hassled to pick up keys.
Aimo only rents out electric cars so users can rest assured that each trip won’t harm the environment. They also have multiple homezones and hotspots where users can park their cars for free.
Hype Level:
Aimo is looking at a full year with exciting news. According to Josephine Adorelle, Aimo’s general manager, marketing, PR and IR “More functions within the app itself, new smart features and more users friendly. We are also looking at expanding our service to other markets as well as offering new kind of services within the same app.”
