Last night, SUP46 celebrated their 6th Annual Startup Gala. Personalities from different startups and different industries joined the event. A part of the Gala is the Startup Gala Awards and here are the winners for 2018:
Startup Launch of the Year: VOI Scooters
Voi is the electric scooter sharing app. They launched their services in the summer of 2018. Since then they have raised 450 million SEK and they have more than 200k users. Voi is available in different European cities such as Stockholm, Gothenburg, Madrid, Zaragoza, and Malaga.
The team of the Year: Karma
Karma is an app that allows people to fight against food waste. Users can use Karma in Stockholm and in the UK. They have saved more than 500,000 food items and they are in partnership with more than 1500 food partners. The founders of Karma was also included in the Forbes 2018 30 under 30 and they were awarded as the Best Social Impact Startup in the Nordic Startup Awards.
Startup Expansion of the Year: KRY
KRY provides health care for people directly to their mobile phones. They were founded in 2014 and their service is available in Sweden, UK, and France. They are in partnership with 400 clinics and 600 medical practitioners.
Pay It Forward Investor of the Year: Simon Saneback
Simon Saneback is a co-founder and board member of Wellstreet. He has begun his entrepreneurial journey when he was 16 years old. Through the years, he has gained substantial experience in the online industry in general and the e-commerce domain in particular. Simon believes in supporting startups that explore and develop sustainable and impactful businesses.
SUP46 Swedish Startup Hall of Fame: Jacob de Geer, iZettle
Jacob de Geer is the CEO and Founder of iZettle. It is a start up that is aimed to help small businesses grow their businesses. By introducing the first mini chip card reader and software for mobile devices they have revolutionized the fintech industry.
In May 2018 the company was acquired by Paypal for $2.2 billion.
