What is it: Foodla is a digital marketplace for people to buy and sell their organic goods within their communities. It’s an app that supports local producers as well as fighting against food waste. The products offered in the app range from eggs & vegetables to home cooked pastries and meals.
How it works: App users can buy or sell products on Foodla. If the user would like to sell a product seller are free to set their own price but the app requires a minimum purchase of 30 SEK.
Buyers can purchase a product by registering your credit or debit card and paying through the app. Stripe supports all the payments in the app. Sellers can also receive payment through Swish.
Foodla doesn’t include a delivery service so buyers should be prepared to pick up their orders.
Best for: Home cooks who would like to share their meals or pastries and gardeners that have homegrown organic produce.
Value Offering: Foodla has created a tool for local producers called Foodla Farm. Foodla Farm helps producers sell their products efficiently and communicate with their customers. Posting an add-on Foodla takes less than 30 seconds and it can be done through the mobile app. With Foodla Farm users can also integrate other platforms such as their websites and other social media channels.
Hype Level: Foodla was first launched in January 2018 by John Gabrielsson, and his brother Rickard Brüel Gabrielsson. It has been a part of Sting’s accelerator program for 2018 and they are currently based at SUP 46. They are currently looking for funding and support to continue to improve and expand Foodla’s services.
