This year is the 5th year of STHLM Tech Fest and Here are some highlights from the event.
The Future of VR
Virtual Reality is popularly used for the entertainment industry but Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport and HTC Vive showed the endless possibilities of VR specifically in the field of education and art.
He introduced Viveport, the YouTube for VR content, it allows people to gain access to different kinds of VR experiences. He has also shown the audience the Vive wireless adaptor allows users to experience untethered VR. With these new technologies, VR is becoming more and more accessible.
The Future of Gaming
The panel shared their ideas about the future of Gaming and most of them came up with the same answers.
- VR and gaming don’t mix well. The panel gave a unanimous opinion that they are underwhelmed with the development of VR. They’ve said that hardware needs further improvement to provide a better gaming experience and it’s a long way from being accessible to all players.
- Collaboration between gamers and developers should be continued. Developers are reaping benefits from listening to the ideas of their players. Allowing players to contribute to game development will foster gamer loyalty, unique ideas and increase the quality of the games.
- Cross-platform will be the future of gaming. They mentioned the impressive growth rate of independent game developers and how they have tapped into mobile and computer gaming and even making certain games available on different platforms.
The Future of Artificial Intelligence
One of the most sought of topics this year was about Artificial Intelligence and it’s integration into different businesses.
Cassie Kozyrkov Chief Decision Engineer, Google Cloud hosted a keynote about how entrepreneurs can successfully integrate AI in their businesses.
The Future of Fintech mentions AI and how it’s used to help banks to understand people’s consumer behavior and how it could be utilized in cryptocurrency and blockchain.
AI was the main topic for the final discussion of the day. Start-ups such as Sana Labs, Jämra and Peltarion shared how they use AI in education, film industry, and other industries.
It’s interesting to see how AI was once perceived as a technology that could overrun humanity and now it has become one of the most useful and innovative ideas that enhances people’s lives.
STHLM Tech Fest has allowed people to learn more about the Tech industry and it has given more start-ups in Sweden to show off their innovative ideas.
