What is it: AirBnB for food but with a touch of Couchsurfing element. This mobile app aims to make a restaurant out of anyone’s home.
How it works: You begin by choosing a place to dine and viewing the host’s profile. Prices, type of food, number of guests, date and time are also indicated on the mobile application before you make a request for reservation. The host will then make a decision to accept or decline your request.
If invited, the full address will be revealed to you and payment is charged to you via the app after the dinner. AirDine also include a ratings and reviews system to help other future diners make a choice.
Best for: Home chefs who can whip up a fancy meal in their own homes. They can get paid minus the extra costs of rental space unlike typical restaurants. Also perfect for people who are planning to open up their own restaurants or have too much food to spare.
Value Offering: A good way to encourage communities to meet up and socialise through eating and enjoying food.
Hype Level: Launched this year in February, AirDine is currently available only in Goteborg as part of Avenyngruppen. The mobile app is still relatively quiet and in progress.
